Feeling Down & Out

So I'm not even 24 hours into this "thing" and I feel down and out.  I went on a Costco date with a good friend and we had a slice of pizza and a latte.  So I come home and think I've failed, again I've failed.  But true to my word I looked up the cals in the slice of costco cheese pizza and find it's a whopping 700 cals...not sure it's worth it, but hey, it's done now.  And I write it down.  I WRITE IT DOWN.  So a plus, I haven't failed. I wrote it down. And now know that I can consume another 250-450 cals today, so not all is lost.  I can still have a healthy dinner and stay within my calorie allowance. WINNING.  Yesterday I would have , I did over consume didn't write it down, thought "What the heck, I might as well continue to eat shitty"

Another reason I'm feeling down and out is cause I feel like I need to prove to other people, strangers even, that I can do it. I had joined this Facebook group called Lose Baby Weight (yes the shake smoothie rather company) and posted a link to my blog and it got deleted cause it was seen as advertising yet people can post links to all sorts of other crap so it made me feel really depressed, really, really depressed and anxious. But I've realised I don't NEED them.  I can do this on my own. I WILL do this on my own.  I'll hold my head up high and I'll JUST DO IT.  While Lose Baby Weight may be a better food program than the 12WBT the support you get in 12WBT is MUCH better. In fact, it kicks arse over the lack of support from the LBW.   But I can do it, and I WILL do it on my own for me.

Which leads me to something I was going to write yesterday.

10 REASONS TO LOSE WEIGHT
1. TO BE HEALTHY
2. TO SET A GOOD EXAMPLE FOR THE KIDS
3. TO LOOK GOOD
4. TO FEEL GOOD
5. WEAR NICE CLOTHES
6. SO I DON'T FEED INADEQUATE AROUND SKINNY PEOPLE ANYMORE
7. TO REGAIN MY CONFIDENCE
8. TO FEEL PROUD OF MYSELF
9. TO FEEL HAPPY
10. TO LIKE WHAT I SEE IN THE MIRROR

Changing Habits.

It's been a really, really long time coming. But I NEED to do something about this weight.  I'm not losing weight because, well let's face it - there's lots of reason's why.  I've tried the all out exercise diet thing. DOES. NOT. WORK.  So a new approach is needed.  I will change one habit at a time.  I recently read some research that suggests if you change one habit at a time your success of sticking with it is around 80% where as if you try to do it all it can drop to around 20% and for me this has certainly proven true.

So, each fortnight I will introduce a new habit.

The first habit is Keep a Food Journal.  It won't be fancy, but I will write down EVERYTHING that passes my lips.  EVERYTHING.   The aim is to keep under 1500 calories per day.

I'm going to use this little space on the internet as a way to track my successes and my failures and everything in between.
